Eva turns two!

The Furr family (being the three of us, soon to be four) celebrated Eva's second birthday! First, we celebrated with Pappa, Mumma, Auntie Sarah and Uncle Andy in Montana during our trip there in August. Then we celebrated with Grandpa, Grandma, Uncle Cale, Auntie Virginia, Caleb, Caroline and Charlotte in Greeley at Glenmere Park.

Eva had a great time and received lots of wonderful gifts from family - she says thank you! Check out the escapades:

Here's a video of Eva opening her gifts in Montana. Unfortunately no pictures were taken:

Here are the videos and pictures from the Greeley crew:

All the kids made masks (thanks to Grandma!) and wore them around at various times during the party...

Eva Summer Fun!

Eva has greatly enjoyed this summer - we wanted to post some of our long-overdue videos of her having fun with various activities.

She got her first trampoline a couple months ago and loves it!

Check her out:

She has also been getting more proficient with her numbers and alphabet, along with some silliness as well...Eva is 23 months old in the videos below:

Denver Botanic Gardens

We had the privilege of visiting the Botanic Gardens this year on one of their 'free' days - which usually means the place is packed with people. In actuality, the Gardens was not that crowded...and it was an enjoyable trip, with lots to see! The 'Rocky Mountain' section was pretty cool, it was like being in the mountains, but then you'd look through the trees and see skyscrapers and high rise apartments. :)

Check out our little video, with some highlights:

Welcome home, Grizzly!

For some time now, we have been waiting for the opportunity to introduce a furry friend into our home (no pun intended). Though we have talked about this for a while now, the actual act of picking out the right addition to our family came about rather spontaneously. Which isn't all that uncharacteristic for this bunch :)

Anyway... the short, short version of the story is: we went to the humane society on Sunday, picked out our favorite pooch and made him ours. I suppose we could have looked at more than one dog (as is recommended), but we happened to fall in love with this little guy within the first 3 seconds of meeting him, so what was the point, right?
He's just about the sweetest thing with fur you'll ever meet and he will love you with his whole heart instantaneously. He is also rather unique looking (35 lbs. Australian Cattle Dog mix of some sort). So, without further adieu...

Everyone meet Grizzly Furr (har har har):

He's actually quite a nervous little guy at times. This is his anxious face as he was a bit apprehensive about the camera flash.

He has sweet looking ears. You can sort of tell in this picture that his ears slightly curve inward at the tips, which looks really cool when he's staring at you with perked ears.
We hope that you will have a chance to meet Grizz some day!

UPDATE: Grizzly has gone down a notch or two in the "sweetest dog in the world" category after attempting to fight every dog we passed by on our most recent walk. Oh well, it's hard to be #1 at everything. We still love you, Griz.

Smile!

Eva had her first experience with dyeing eggs this year. She was a bit apprehensive at first, but had no problem diving (literally) right in! The next experience was learning how to eat a hard-boiled egg. I sat her in my lap with a pretty egg and showed her how to carefully peel off the shell. She thought that seemed like fantastic fun! So naturally, Eva wanted to do the next one on her own. This is what she did with her egg...

After just one touch...

Then she took a celebratory bite...

I asked her to smile for me...

For whatever reason, when we ask Eva to smile, she just throws her mouth open. I hope that's not what we look like ;)

Here's our little Evie Sue with a big "smile" on her face:

"NOOOOOO!!"

We were blessed with a little more "nnooooo!", as Eva calls it. Time to go outside and check it out... once it warmed up, of course :)
This time around there were a few lessons awaiting Eva...

Lesson #1: Sometimes you can walk on top of snow!

Check it out!!

"Whoa..."

Won't be long before that little footprint won't be so little next to mommy's... and, hey, the snow held me up, too! That doesn't happen too often any more :)

Lesson #2: Snow is cold.

An idea emerges...

Implementation of idea...

Result: "Kolt" Eva tells me. The snow is indeed cold.

Now that we know, should we try it again?

YEEESSSS!!!! Whew, feel the burn!! I think the face below says it all :)

Now that we've learned a few lessons it's time to go home! Look Mom - no hands!!

Hat hair and a runny nose! Totally worth it.

Randomness

I thought these pictures were so funny and maybe you'll get a little chuckle, too! They should give you a snapshot into my world living with two silly people...

As it goes, while I was chopping an onion I happened to chop a portion of my thumb off. Yes, off. The next week I had another onion that needed chopping and my husband decided that I was not allowed to chop this onion. So, he grabbed his chemistry goggles and chopped away!! What he doesn't know is that chopping a portion of my thumb off was part of an elaborate, ongoing scheme to get him to help in the kitchen wink, wink.

Many mornings of the week Eva plays in her pack n' play in the bathroom while I get ready. One day I noticed that she was actually studying what I was doing and mimicking me! Here she is applying lotion to her face.

Really, Eva? Is that what I look like?

My silly family. They sure keep me laughing!!

Note: Jesse would like you to know that there are actually three silly people in this family.
