Eva's 1st Birthday Bash

We had a wonderful time celebrating Eva's first birthday with some of our family and friends. We decided to have an outdoor party, so we met at Sanborn Park - a favorite of ours. Eva enjoyed sneaking around stealing food from other people's plates, playing with her first balloons, playing with people her size, and eating her first cake - though she wasn't quite sure what to think of being sung to!

Have a great time perusing the pictures and video - we didn't get a shot of everyone, but you'll get a flavor for the afternoon.

Eva enjoying her birthday lunch and balloons!

Pictured below in back: Joni Lopez, Kristy Confer (holding Abby), Erin Pavlik; on the blanket: Ashley Brons and Beth Konzek (with her daughter Adalyn)

Caleb is helping Eva wait patiently for her first cupcake!

Cale holding Charlotte, Grandpa, and Virginia in the background talking to Joey, Robin and Asher Taylor.

Dan Konzek sharing a great story with Jesse and the Lopez and Pavlik kids burning off some energy in the background.

Eva pointing a few things out to Grandpa.

Eva and Charlotte trying to climb the highchair in unison.

The rest of these pictures are of Eva opening a few of her gifts. We didn't do all of the gift opening as Eva and others were showing clear signs of a much needed nap time!

Unicorn pajamas - mama's favorite kind!! Thanks Grandma!

Abby Confer had a blast decorating herself with a few bows :)

Here is the video you've been waiting for - the momentous happy birthday song and cupcake eating!!!!

Furrmobile

Over the past few months, we came to the conclusion that our (then) current vehicle situation was a little lacking. Eva's car seat barely fit in our car, so much so that practically no one else (save a midget or two) would be able to fit in the back with her. We (read: Jesse) made the tough decision to sell the Jeep, and use what we gained from that to purchase a replacement vehicle that was larger and had some creature comforts like working AC and space for 5. Below are the pictures of our resulting worldwide search for the next Furrmobile.

Introducing the '99 Honda CR-V!

The last picture is the most luxurious feature of our new ride - the built-in picnic table. It sits in a storage compartment in the rear area.

Eva wanted to give the CR-V a full inspection, the "once-over", if you will. Below are her impressions.

We are pretty confident that she approves of her new chauffeur vehicle. We do too - we have greatly appreciated the AC and tinted windows over this hot Colorado summer! Looking forward to putting some miles on it.

Our Day in Estes

In late July we went to go for a hike near Estes Park. We overestimated our ability to do said hike, and headed back down to the trailhead. We then spent a few hours in downtown Estes, which is always a treat, busy or not. It was! However, we walked around and Eva got to see many new faces and lots of dogs, which she pointed and screamed at (in enjoyment). The pictures start with our lunch at the trailhead before we actually started hiking, in our new (to us) Honda CR-V! We really enjoy and appreciate our new vehicle, as it has many features that we've never had before.

The bottom picture is Eva waving at other hikers in the parking lot, including a couple who locked their keys in their car...Eva provided lots of encouragement!

These last few are in a park on the river in Estes, where Eva made friends with a stick. :) On our way down, we had to stop and get the requisite ice cream at Dairy Delite in Loveland - always yummy! All in all, a great Saturday out as a family!
