Ready, Set, GO!!

Eva spent a Friday evening trying to play with her cousins Caleb, Caroline and Charlotte. The only problem was, Eva's scooting technique wasn't fast enough for her to be able to keep up with her active cousins. We would watch as she diligently scooted across the carpet where the fun was happening, only to be disappointed when everyone else was able to dash to another area to play. This sounds like a sad story, but before you feel bad for Eva, we'll tell you what happened the next day.

Eva got up that Saturday and she worked all morning on crawling. She was determined not to be left behind again. And what do you know? She got it! Nothing like a little motivation to get some fire in your diaper...

Eva's Swimming Lessons, Continued

Here are a few more photos and videos from Eva's swimming escapades the past couple of weeks. Overall, she was working on learning to jump in the water (into Daddy or Mommy's arms), 'float' on her back, kick with her legs and grab toys under water. Blowing bubbles didn't quite make sense to her yet. :)

In this video Eva and Daddy are swimming around the pool, working on her kicking and back float.

This one features Eva and Mommy, practicing Eva's 'jumping in' skills.

Eva's First Week of Swim Lessons

This past week we started swimming lessons for Eva at a local rec center. She loves her bath time, so we thought she would enjoy it on a much larger scale! And she did... after a couple of days. The swimming area is very loud and chaotic at first glance, which made Eva apprehensive about this new adventure. However, by day three she smiled and gave a little happy dance when we arrived!

Below are a few snapshots of Eva's first week. When you watch the video you will want to make sure the sound is turned down, unless you want to experience the reason why Eva was apprehensive to start ;)

Every swimmer knows you have to start out with a good leg stretch!

Eva is very serious about her back stroke.

Swimming is quite easy when daddy does all the work.

Daddy shows Eva how to blow bubbles. Eva learned how to inhale water.

All of this work calls for a thumb sucking break!

By day three, Eva had learned how to "jump" off the side into the water! This was not the least bit scary for Eva, she has a fearless side to her.

We're looking forward to what the second week will have in store for our little ballerina fishy :)
