Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow!

We had a beautiful fall this year in Greeley that actually lasted more than a few weeks, which was wonderful! So, when we heard a blizzard was on the way, Eva and I had to get out! Here are a few pictures taken behind our condo the day before it snowed:

Sweet girl!

Oops... wipe out!

Steady... steady...

Ooo, rocks!

Must sit down for a taste or two...

Must find the right walking stick...

OK, take one more look:

24 hours later:

Jesse got the day off, so we were able to spend an afternoon in the snow! It was Eva's first time playing in the snow, or as she calls it, "nnoooooo!!".

A, sort of, snow angel!

As it turned out, Eva really likes to look at the snow, but she's not so much into playing in it. She cried the whole time... it was a short afternoon outside. We stick to looking out the window, pointing at the snow and saying, "nnooooo!!". We'll have to work on the playing part :)

This is Eva's attempt at smiling for the camera. It sure was nice to have daddy home an extra day!

Good bye fall, we will miss you...

Eva's 1st Haircut!

I had heard it before. Parents cutting their child's hair for the first time and saving it for years to come. Gross, why would you do that, it's just hair!?! That's what I would think to myself. Then out came Eva into this world! And my, did she have hair! Didn't see that one coming. Then it grew and grew and grew some more. But with being a baby and the funny ways hair grows at that stage in life, it looked, well, a bit awkward. Of course, as her mother, I didn't care. It was my precious baby's sweet hair that I touched when I first laid eyes on her wet, wrinkly, adorable self. How could I possibly cut it off? Unless I saved it, of course. Now I get it. Parents aren't gross, just lovestruck :)
So, we took the plunge. I sat behind Eva with a bowl, scissors and comb. And Jesse sat in front of Eva playing defense for me. With every snip of the scissors and clank of the bowl, Eva threw her head back in curiosity. I've never cut anyone's hair before nor had I used scissors on a moving target, but all in all, I'd say it turned out ok. We took Eva to church the next day and everyone thought I had had it professionally cut and asked me if I styled her hair that morning - yay for curly hair!
We are now the proud parents of a shorter-haired little sweetie... and a plastic bag of hair.

A day later I did a few touch ups...

Oh yeah, and I got a haircut, too!

The day has finally come - our baby has become a toddler! Eva started walking just a few short days ago and is quickly becoming quite a pro. Check out her budding skills in the video below (and watch for the end where she attempts to play peek-a-boo but falls on her bottom):

Eva's 1st Birthday Bash

We had a wonderful time celebrating Eva's first birthday with some of our family and friends. We decided to have an outdoor party, so we met at Sanborn Park - a favorite of ours. Eva enjoyed sneaking around stealing food from other people's plates, playing with her first balloons, playing with people her size, and eating her first cake - though she wasn't quite sure what to think of being sung to!

Have a great time perusing the pictures and video - we didn't get a shot of everyone, but you'll get a flavor for the afternoon.

The rest of these pictures are of Eva opening a few of her gifts. We didn't do all of the gift opening as Eva and others were showing clear signs of a much needed nap time!

Abby Confer had a blast decorating herself with a few bows :)
