Eva's Big Week

What a wonder it is as a parent to watch your child transform before your eyes! One week, and your little baby is hardly the same as she was just mere days before. We experienced this just last week, as Eva wowed us with her new skills.

Over the course of last week, we watched her roll over from her back to tummy for the first time, smack her lips in a 'popping' fashion, blow 'raspberries', sit up mostly on her own, reach and grab for things in front of her with both hands, and has started to figure out when I (Jesse) come home from work. She has also greatly decreased in spitting up excess formula seemingly overnight. Last but definitely not least, we introduced Eva to rice cereal!

Below are some videos we captured of her during her first few days - she was already a pro! We decided to start her on cereal, because she has been very interested in what we were eating and drinking...even so far as to drink water from one of our glasses! :)

My Little Twinkle Baby

When I first gave birth to Eva I couldn't imagine doing anything else besides hold her and stare at her. It felt like I could have literally stared at her all day... and all night, as it goes :) After a few weeks of that I realized it was going to be necessary for me to find other ways of interacting with Eva - can't just stare at each other for the rest of lives. My next thought was: "What does one do with a baby?". I didn't know! So, I asked other moms what they do with one baby and I discovered that you go to the library, of course. Much to my amazement, the library has a class for babies!

Eva and I now attend Twinkle Babies once a week. Eva is the youngest baby (but NOT the smallest!), however they're all under the age of 15 months. Basically, we all sit on the floor around a large multicolored rug and sing songs; learn new rhymes with coordinating hand movements and music; chew - I mean, read books; play with toys, pop bubbles and socialize.

Eva loves Twinkle Babies! Everybody knows Eva. She's the cute little baby with the crazy hair that talks and squeals through the entire 30 minute class. Not a week goes by that she doesn't startle a mom or two with her spontaneous outbursts of enthusiasm. Last week, the instructor informed me that Eva was going to be a talker. I immediately drifted back to my memories as a middle school teacher. Hmmm, I remember the "talkers". This should be interesting :)

Eva enjoys the part where she gets to put things in her mouth!

You don't really experience something until you taste it, right?

Here's a snapshot of a normal scene at Twinkle Babies.

We love our little twinkle baby! I can't wait to hear all the stories she has stored up to share with us some day very soon.

Furr family Christmas 2010 photos

While we spent Christmas with both of our families, we only have pictures from our Michigan trip to post. Below is a small slice of our Christmas with family.

It was quite cold in Michigan, much colder than Colorado, go figure. :) So, Eva needed extra "bundling up" when we went out. She didn't seem to mind though...

Mommy and Eva got all dressed up for the Christmas Eve service at Uncle Andy and Aunt Sarah's church!

Eva dressed up for Christmas morning, and totally outdid us all! Note the reindeer antlers on her head... :)

Eva also won the award for being the most stylish!

Daddy was excited that Eva got her first laptop - now they can check e-mail together! It'll be a while before she can help Dad disassemble one though...

Turning Over a New Leaf

It's 2011 and we're jumping on the blog bandwagon! Here you will gain more insight into our lives... if you so dare. ;) Before Eva there really wasn't much to post, but now - well, you'll see. We will use this blog to post a few pictures that require commentary, however, most of the pictures we take will be added to the Picasa web album we have created. The link is the same, which is added below:

Thank you for being a part of our lives. We love you!
